The family’s motto of Geology, Origins, and Territory are best exemplified in the passion indeered on all the estate wines. The geology is principal, not only since that was Michael’s background, but it is the sole composition of the building blocks that make the vineyard and varietals excel in the estate. The origins revolves around not just the legacy created by the Larner family, but also reminiscent of the origins of the award wining fruit that has set the vineyard apart as a “Californian Grand Cru”, stated by Robert Parker, Jr., that ultimately leads to world-class wines. Lastly, the territory, which must be perfectly suited to allow the cultivated varietals to express their true characteristics, where year after year the gapes and their wines consistently produce optimal aromas and flavors – eventually entering the vintage bottled time-capsuled.
Our newest vintage of our estate grown Syrah. The 2016 vintage Syrah boasts powerful aromas of dark fruit, coffee, menthol, and dried tea. Opulent mouthfeel with firm tannins, and a palate adorned with white chocolate, leather, and pepper. As the only AVA dedicated to Syrah, Ballard Canyon AVA has emerged as the “home” of Syrah in America. Aged 22 months in 38% new French oak and 62% neutral French oak barrel. 170 cases produced.

Aromas of maraschino cherry, rose petal, leather, peppercorn and vanilla. Rich tannins and a long finish. Pairs well with grilled or smoked meatts. Aged 22 months in oak barrels, 30% new French oak.
Packed tight with black fruits, rum cake, clove, anise and cigar box. Bright on the palate, expressing cherry and mineral, followed by all spice on the finish. The 2015 Grenache is a blend of four clones - 136, 362, 513, and our own Larner clone. Aged 22 months in neutral French oak barrels.
This 2016 Grenache is from an impressively warm vintage characterized by low yields has aromas of fresh red raspberry, clove, anise, and sandalwood. The palate of ripe red fruit medley, fig, currant, and balsam notes is bright in acidity with a firm tannin finish. Aged 22 months in 100% neutral French oak barrels. 50 cases produced.
A textured, spicy, and robust red with aromas of blackberry, clove, rosemary wood and crushed pepper. Baker’s chocolate on the mid-palate and a hint of tobacco/cigar box on the finish. Bright acidity, firm and chalky tannins. Aged 22 months in 50% new Russian oak and 50% neutral French oak. 75 cases produced
The 2014 vintage produced wines defined by strength, yet elegance. This Reserve Syrah, with 33% whole cluster fermentation, exemplifies the characteristic of this classic vintage. Spicy aromatics of crushed pepper, dried press flowers, rosemary wood, and blackberry. An elegant mid-palate of blueberry, cigar box, dark chocolate with a hint of vanilla on the finish. Balanced acidity, firm and chalky tannins. Aged 36 months in in 50% new oak (15% French and 35% Russian oak). 145 cases produced.
Flashy, racy and succulent, with a terrific palate presence. Dark cherry, spice and white chocolate flavors are all amped up. Even with all if its natural intensity, the 2013 is quite nuanced and delicate. The 2013 spent a total of four years in 100% new French oak, 25% whole-cluster and was done with a touch of Viognier.
Only made in exceptional vintages, the Dedication is a testament to the patience required to produce impeccable, world class Syrah.
